About Dan
Dan is a Senior MCERTS Emissions Monitoring Specialist at Alkali Environmental Consultants with over 10 years' experience delivering MCERTS and UKAS accredited stack emissions monitoring across a wide range of regulated industrial sectors throughout the UK.
He holds a BEng in Energy and Environmental Engineering from the University of Leeds and specialises in emissions to air permit compliance, industrial emissions monitoring and the technical oversight of accredited emissions testing operations. Sector experience spans electricity generation, waste management, wastewater treatment, engineering, food manufacturing, product manufacturing, coating processes and solvent based industrial operations.
Earlier in his career he worked within an EHSE (Environment, Health, Safety and Energy) department supporting energy management and environmental improvement projects, before moving into a product development and testing laboratory role. This background gave him early exposure to industrial process operations, environmental management systems and operational performance improvement within manufacturing environments.
Over the past decade he has delivered periodic stack emissions monitoring campaigns across complex industrial facilities and regulated sites, gaining broad experience across multiple emissions monitoring organisations and technical projects. For the past three years at Alkali, he has continued leading MCERTS stack emissions monitoring campaigns while also supporting the technical oversight and development of UKAS accredited monitoring services.
Day to day work includes improving field and laboratory working practices, developing technical procedures, refining on site monitoring methodologies and supporting automation within laboratory information management systems (LIMS). A Lean based approach to operational development underpins this work, focusing on efficiency, standardisation, technical consistency and continuous improvement across monitoring and reporting processes.
At Alkali he works closely with the emissions monitoring, laboratory and environmental compliance teams to deliver regulator ready monitoring data and practical technical support for Environment Agency permit compliance, supporting industrial operators with periodic stack emissions testing, process optimisation and emissions reporting across a wide range of operational environments, focused on delivering accurate, defensible monitoring data while continuously improving operational efficiency and technical quality across field and laboratory activities.
